I am constantly blogging about the positive aspects of El Paso. I am a native of El Paso and can tell you first hand, it’s like living anywhere else in the US. The only change my husband and I have made is that we no longer take day trips to Juarez.I am a RE/MAX Buyer's Agent focused on relocations and first-time home buyer's but I do have a property manager that handles my rentals. Here name is Letty and she can be reached at 915-594-7905. Although most of our rental properties rent out within a week of listing so you may want to start your search for a rental home closer to your move date.
There are over 3000 homes for sale and many are distressed properties. This can mean great deals for some experienced buyers. Unfortunately buying a foreclosed home requires lots of money up front because they are sold "as is". Feel free to use my REMAX website where I provide free use of the local MLS (multiple listing service). If you are an experienced buyer you my benefit from my HUD homes for sale list. Please contact me for that list. If this is your first time buying a home, I recommend avoiding foreclosures unless you are ready for a long and frustrating experience. There are many new homes with very competitive prices. Here again, because of the influx of military personnel, El Paso has seen tons of fly-by-night home builders and some track home builders with bad reputations. I can provide you with a list of reputable builders in the area.
I strongly recommend starting with a good local lender with the experience to close your transaction. The loan process is the longest part of buying a home so it is imperative to meet with a lender as soon as possible. In this market and since the recession, national banks are taking as long as 60-90 days to fund a loan. Whomever you chose, please let them know I will be working with you as we will need to work together to get you the home you want.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Best regards, Yvonne
